So many of the weddings I am lucky enough to photograph have a rustic, countryside theme – so it was a great pleasure to be asked to photograph Carla and James’ wedding, which took place in the centre of my home city of Norwich. It was important to the couple that the whole day was relaxed, and that a lot of their photos could take place in the unique Plantation Gardens, a secret 3 acre site, in the heart of the city. This wonderful oasis was originally created from the vision of a private individual, from a chalk quarry; with work starting in the mid 19th century, it took 40 years to achieve the magical space. It’s been a favourite space of mine since I first moved to Norwich – so it was lovely that Carla and James wanted their wedding photos to take place there.

However, that still left a very urban trail to traverse from the registry office to the gardens – and their sense of fun was apparent with every step past traffic, shop windows, double decker buses and over flyovers! On a busy Saturday, it was lovely to see all the passing shoppers share the celebrations by wishing the couple the very best – broad smiles were everywhere!

After the joy of their ceremony, the fun of the urban wedding walk and the beauty of the gardens, the entire wedding party crossed back over Grapes Hill using the flyover to continue their celebrations at the Good Food Guide’s restaurant of the year, Roger Hickmans. Truly a fabulous day which I was genuinely over the moon sharing with them.

I hope you enjoy the photos and when you’ve finished, do click on Isabelle to go to the next post in the Sisterhood circle!
