It was by complete chance that I met Lorna, at a charity fashion show hosted by Sarah Morgan, The Style & Colour Coach.  She mentioned that she was getting married just outside Edinburgh and wished that I were closer to be able to do her wedding photography. I explained, that not only do I travel for great weddings and lovely couples, but that actually, Norwich is less than an hour away from Edinburgh as we have direct flights! So shortly afterwards I also met her partner, James and to my delight, they booked me.

They were clearly hugely excited about their venue, Lennoxlove House, and the moment I arrived, the day before the wedding for a recce, I could see why. It was truly amazing. A Scottish castle that was still the private family home of the Duke and Duchess of Hamilton. For someone like me who adores history, every inch of that amazing home brought my long forgotten history lessons at school alive.  As a hugely excited bride and groom to be showed me around, I became quite breathless with excitement at the opportunities each room gave for some lasting and meaningful wedding photography.

I left to meet my great friend, photographer Rob Grimes, who had said he would drive all the way to Scotland to help out as a 2nd shooter, and spent the evening trying to describe how amazing the venue was!

We arrived early the next morning for the bride and groom prep, with a day that promised perfection in terms of weather and people. Both bride and groom’s families were warm and welcoming and Rob and I felt instantly relaxed.

As with all weddings, there was a lot going on – James sat quietly amidst the rush of everything and everyone arriving to write his speech, moving from one location to another as each room filled with flowers and relatives.

The bridesmaids were fabulous; they kept up a constant stream of laughter and jokes, keeping the bride relaxed and happy. Make up artist and hairdresser moved from one lady to the other – whilst the bride’s mother was expertly attended to by one of Lorna’s sisters. And as if by magic, by  the time the underground chapel was filled with guests, the bride and groom and their bridesmaids and ushers were ready.

As Lorna and her dad started down the long staircase, the bagpiper began to play – and for one split second we waited whilst the bride caught her breath – then with words of encouragement from her sister, she continued on her way to meet James.

It was a beautiful day. We stayed to capture all of it – the prep, the ceremony, the guests, the couple shots, the fun, the laughter, the love, the speeches, the first dance, the throwing of the bouquet and the night time antics!

This wedding has also been published in Norfolk and Suffolk Brides.

This is a Sisterhood Circle post, so please go to Isabelle, and her beautiful blog next!
